Seems Steve Irwin of the Crocodile Hunter was filming a new documentary and was swimming with a stingray and while passing over it, when one of it's barbs pierced right through his heart. There was no way to save him it did irreparable damage and he was dead before even reaching the hospital.

Wow. This is just a freaky accident....there's only been 3 recorded fatalities by stingrays ever in Austraila.

What a tragic thing to happen.

I read this earlier in another forum, thinking it was a joke. I wish it would have been a joke. RIP.

They actually caught his death on tape and the family has asked to have it destroyed. Can't imagine why! I just hope the family wasn't there when it happened. They always seem to have been with him wherever he went and how awful that would have been had Terri and the kids been there. Yikes!

I don't know about where you live but our zoo has set up a memorial for him there for people to go and pay their last respects along with signing a book that I guess will eventually be sent to his family. I thought that was awfully nice.
