Rams running back Steven Jackson popped off in an interview with Mike Silver on Yahoo.com. Here's Jackson on Rams fans: "You've got to love those Rams fans who showed their loyalty by selling their tickets to Packers and Steelers fans, so half the people in the stadium were rooting against us. It was like playing road games. We ran out of the tunnel and got booed. It was ridiculous. I was livid."
And when asked why he fell short of his 2007 goals, Jackson said: "Two things killed me: My offensive line was just decimated, and our receivers didn't block. You look at Adrian Peterson, LaDainian Tomlinson or anyone who has a ton of yards, and those guys on the perimeter block."
(Just wondering: When's the last time Jackson was reliable in picking up blitzes and blocking for his quarterback?)
Writing on Foxsports.com, Pete Schrager nominated the Rams as the team most likely to go from worst to first in a division in 2008. Schrager pointed out that at least one team has gone from last to first in a season since 2002. He wrote: "The team to watch in '08? The Rams. I know, I know, we've all fallen for the Rams before. But this year, St. Louis is truly a legitimate darkhorse. Banged up by injuries all of last season, St. Louis should be healthy and much improved come the start of the 2008 campaign."
