Thomas Previews Minicamp
Post-Dispatch Rams beat writer Jim Thomas joined Bernie Miklasz and Randy Karraker on the Roll Home on Team 1380 Wednesday afternoon.
Jim said that this isn't the normal rookie minicamp, and the the Rams will have more than 80 players at Rams Park this weekend for the mandatory camp.
He believes that the Rams are allowed to practice for 4 days a week from Friday till June 12th.
Jim said he is excited to see Donnie Avery because he wants to see how he catches the ball and how he runs routes.
Jim Haslett would've preferred Glenn Dorsey in the draft, but that doesn't mean he isn't excited to have Chris Long because he can use him in so many ways in his defense. Thomas is curious to see how many places they use him this weekend.
Thomas said it will also be interesting to see how Jacob Bell looks and moves around during this camp.
The Rams think they did pretty well drafting Greco and Schuening on the second day because so many teams need a third tackle.
Jim said he doesn't think Tye Hill, Adam Carriker, or Leonard Little will be cleared for full practice till training camp.
Jim said he had heard that the decision had all but been made to have training camp at Concordia, Wisconsin, but for some reason it is being held up.
The guys talk about Adam Archuletta getting cut from the Bears, and that his career is probably over. With his concussions and back problems, he should be set for life.
The guys joke that rams.com writer Nick Wagoner would be the president of the Chris Long fan club.
